Snake Gourd Masala Curry - Potlakaya nuvvula curry





Ingredients:
Snake Gourd - 4 or 5 Medium sized
1 medium sized onion, chopped finely
Salt - 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric - 1/4 tbsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
Seasame seeds - 2 tbsp
Garlic pod - 1
Oil - 2 tbsp
Few curry leaves

Method:
  • Wash snake gourd thorougly and cut length-wise into halves and deseed them
  • Wash the snake gourd one more time and cut into small eatable pieces. Now add them to a bowl, add enough water and microwave it or cook on stovetop for 12 minutes till the snake gourd pieces are soft but not mushy.
  • Strain and keep aside
  • In a pan add oil and when it is hot, add curry leaves and onion pieces and fry till onion pieces turn translucent
  • Add snake gourd pieces and stir well and fry for about 10 min on medium heat
  • Add salt and turmeric and mix well and fry for another 5 min.Keep stirring from time to time
  • Meanwhile in a  mixie jar, add red chilli powder, garlic pod and seasame seeds and grind to a powder
  • Sprinkle this powder on top of curry and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes till the curry gets properly coated with masala

Very yummy snake gourd curry is ready to be served. Goes well with White rice, Chapathi and Pulka
